Twitter ‘to selectively censor tweets’

Washington: Twitter has announced that it can now selectively censor tweets on a country-by-country basis, a move which may augur well for India which reportedly urged social media websites to remove offensive contents.

In its blog post, titled ‘Tweets Must Flow’, the San Fransico-based micro-blogging company has said that it could "reactively withhold content from users in a specific country" if legally required to do so.

The proposed move came amid reports of a legal clash between India and global Internet giants, including Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook, over pre-screening user contents and removal of offensive materials from their websites.

A Delhi court had last month asked 21 social networking websites to remove derogatory content by February 6 this year.

In its blog, citing France or Germany which ban pro-Nazi content as examples, Twitter said yesterday: "As we continue to grow internationally, we will enter countries that have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression.

“Starting today, we give ourselves the ability to reactively withhold content from users in a specific country -- while keeping it available in the rest of the world.”

“We haven`t yet used this ability, but if and when we are required to withhold a tweet in a specific country, we will attempt to let the user know, and we will clearly mark when the content has been withheld.”

However, the micro-blogging service with over 100 million active users, said the removed content would be available to the rest of the world. Earlier when it used to delete a tweet, it would disappear worldwide, media reports said.

Along with social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, which is currently banned in China, is said to have played a pivotal role in uprisings that swept the Middle East region, particularly in countries like Egypt and Tunisia.

Saif Ali Khan said that audience may come to watch Agent Vinod thinking that the film has been copied from a James Bond movie but it is stupid to think so, because in the first place James Bond is totally English. Saif Ali said this on the background of unveiling of the first poster of Agent Vinod.

Saif Ali further said that viewers will realize right from the first scene of the film that it is completely different from James Bond’s character because it is not copied from Bond film.

However Saif Ali is sure to make the sequels of Agent Vinod like they were made of James Bond, if Agent Vinod does well on box-office.

Agent Vinod has been directed by Sriram Raghavan and is scheduled to release on 23 March 2012.

Virat Kohli first century Australia vs India Adelaide test match

Virat Kohli scored his first Test century in the India-Australia third cricket Test match at Adelaide and gave a thrust back to the nutty Australian audience who had passed annoying comments to him in the second Test at Sydney.

23-year Virat Kohli was penalized with half of his match fee for showing his middle finger to the audience at Sydney when they passed irritating comments to him.

Virat Kohli said that when the audience comes to get entertained by the cricket match they should do that instead of irritating the players of the other team. He said that it is really unfair that they irritate the player and if he reacts he is penalized.

Virat Kohli said that his century is a correct thrust to the audience.

Sneha Shekhawat led Air Force at 63rd Republic Day ceremony 26Jan

This was the first time that a woman, Sneha Shekhawat from Sikar Rajasthan led the Air Force contingent in the ceremonial Republic Day Parade. She was the first woman pilot to do so.

Three other women flying officers Pooja Negi, Anupam Chaudhary and Heena Pore assisted flight lieutenant Sneha Shekhawat in the Air Force Parade. The women Air Force contingent marched gracefully to the Air Battle tunes in the ceremonial Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.

As the commentator mentioned that Sneha Shekhawat is the first woman pilot to led the Air Force contingent , the spectators cheered her with great enthusiasm.

Karan Johar’s Agneepath will be big hit as Yash Johar’s Agneepath

According to Bollywood celebrities and critics who have watched special screening of the movie Agneepath, the movie will be a blockbuster success.

Fire on the sets of Aamir Khan’s TV show

Mumbai: A major fire broke out on the sets of Bollywood actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan’s debut TV show on Monday night, burning down the entire under construction site near Madh Island, Malad to ground.

Talking to a daily, an insider said, “It was an extremely unfortunate event. Due to some electrical fault, the set caught fire and within minutes spread across the sets.”

“Early evening the entire team had gone and done a recee and only about 20 people from the light and set department were wrapping light adjustments when the fire broke out. Luckily everyone was cleared and there were no casualties,” said the source.

Talking about the damage, the source added, “Right now it’s difficult to say whether or not it will cause any delays or for how long for the show to take off.”

When contacted, a spokesperson of Aamir Khan’s production house said, “It has been extremely unfortunate incident. We only feel lucky and very relieved that no one was hurt. As soon as we will be allowed to inspect and take stock, is when we will be able to assess the damage and decide to what extent we would need to repair the sets.”

The TV talk show will mark Aamir Khan’s debut on the small screen. The much-hyped show deals with issues related to the common man.
