16 killed as electricity wire falls on bus in Rajasthan's Tonk

Sixteen people were electrocuted as a high-tension wire fell on a bus in Rajasthan's Tonk.

At least 16 people were killed and 25 others suffered burn injuries when a bus carrying a wedding party came in contact with a high-tension wire in Rajasthan's Tonk district on Friday, according to police.
Around 50 people were travelling in the bus from Bachera to Morla village when the accident took place around 2.30pm. A team of 15 doctors from Jaipur's SMS Hospital left for the accident spot to oversee the treatment of those injured.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who was in Delhi on Friday, rushed a team of ministers to the spot when she learnt about the tragedy. An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased was announced by the electricity department.
A police official who visited the accident spot said the death toll was likely to go up as many of the injured had serious burn injuries.
